Long before truffles became the preserve of Michelin-starred kitchens, they were surrounded by myth, medicine and beauty ritual. Ancient Greek and Roman writers associated these hidden “black diamonds” with vitality, luxury and even divine origin — treasures formed beneath the soil, close to the roots of trees.
Today, modern cosmetic research is beginning to explain why Tuber melanosporum has attracted such fascination. Naturally rich in amino acids, minerals, sugars and antioxidant compounds, black truffle extract has been studied for its ability to support skin exposed to environmental stress, including UV-related oxidative stress, and to influence cellular energy markers such as ATP.
